The basic premise of the card game is to be dealt cards adding up to twenty-one. Each gambler is given 2 cards. When a gambler is handed a 9 or less and an Ace they have been handed a soft hand. When the black jack player is dealt no Ace it is called as a hard hand. Once the cards have been handed to every player at the blackjack table, which includes the dealer, every black jack player is provided the opportunity to make one of 6 choices:
Requesting another card (Hit): When a player says hit me the dealer will deal them another card, if the addition of that card makes the total greater than twenty one the gambler will have lost and that’s the end of the game, if the card pushes the total to twenty-one the blackjack player wins and if the value of the hand hasn’t yet achieved twenty one they’re still in the game.
Keeping the hand you have been given: If a blackjack player is happy with the hand they’ll stay. Once this has happened the dealer will show his or her hand and the player who has accumulated twenty-one or the nearest to twenty one will win.
Doubling Down: A black jack player may ask to double down which doubles the wager they have laid. As soon as you’ve taken this action you can only receive 1 additional card. The details of doubling down are normally specified by the blackjack table or betting house rules so before wagering be certain you’re comfortable with the casino rules. If you’re competing at an internet casino this is normally very simple.
